Ordered some Mahi-Mahi Katsu and Furikake fries to go. We were staying at PMRF Beach Cottages, made for a delicious authentic island dinner. Large portions, hot and fresh.
Food was excellent in this little hole in the wall. Chili chicken was the bomb coming out piping hot with perfectly deep fried deliciousness with please keep skin in abundance overdrive.
We got a bit hungry after hiking around the west side of the island at Waimea Canyon State Park and was able to find this place on yelp driving back to our hotel on the south part of the island. I saw so many people recommending the Kekahott chicken so I decided to give it a try. 1. Kekahott chicken: THIS IS SO GOOD! It is pretty much Korean Fried Chicken but in more of a chicken cutlet kind of format which is great because there are no bones. The seasoning is so flavorful and the batter is so crispy and fresh. The portion size is insane. We could barely close the box! SOOOO worth the price. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, I'll definitely be back! This was so good. It is pretty heavy so might need to order a salad or something on the side but I already miss this chicken. Definitely a must try if you like Korean Fried Chicken. Service was also excellent. They were so polite. It takes about 15-20 mins to get your food since they fry it fresh so you can walk around at the market next door while you wait.
I ordered the mahi mahi katsu, I'd never seen a fish katsu on a menu before, it was so good when I got home from Kauai I tried to replicate it. Excellent dish!!
It's my 1st time here since the new owners took over. Its a nice little shop with a few chairs to wait for your order. No tables. The person that took our orders was very nice n friendly. So we decided what we wanted n placed our order. My girl friend ordered the Mahi Katsu n a side order of Furikake fries.I ordered the Locomoco double.2 fat hamburger patties with over easy eggs.We were amazed of the portions!.Now that's what I'm talking about!.The fries was good!.The sauce with that crinkle fries good stuff!.My girl friend enjoyed her Mahi Katsu. It was so much she saved the rest for dinner. My Locomoco was like wow!.My plate was basically over flowing!.The taste was just right!.The burger's were a perfectly cooked medium rare. The gravy was tasty with that over easy runny eggs and the macaroni salad!.man Over the top!!.After finishing that plate I was ready to take a nap.Maybe next visit I'll skip breakfast and I might try the triple Locomoco Or the Kekahot chicken. So if you're very hungry?I suggest you this place. They have a good selection of local favorite dishes.Like,Chicken katsu, hamburger steak,Chicken cutlet,Fish n chips N burgers jus to name a few. Also they have brownies, blue berry cheese cakes and also I saw they even sell dog treats!.So come on buy have a good meal n support local.Yessah!!!
Best plate lunch I've ever had, hands down. I've never had such juicy chicken in my life. The Kekahott chicken was soooo tender, marinated well, but also fresh out the fryer with a perfect crisp. Mac salad was cold and refreshing, and the katsu was also breaded well with the chicken inside still tender and not dry. The KitKat cheesecake was also decadent but not too sweet, with a perfect crust to cake ratio. I wish i could give this place 6/5 stars! Service was also great, food is made fresh to order so it does take a little longer of a wait, but well worth it. There is limited seating inside but there are picnic tables outside if you want to eat there--it is in a nice area!
Great Hawaiian food. The wait was long but you know it's fresh. I would definitely return for lunch.
Da Booze shop is located in the small town of Waimea. A good place to stop and eat if you have visited Waimea canyon and are hungry for a bite to eat. I ordered the kekahott chicken and it took a good 15 minutes for the one plate to come out. A couple ordered after and got their food before me which was odd since I only got one thing. The chicken was good but more crispy skin pieces than I wanted. My husband really liked the chicken skin though so he ate all the parts I didn't like. I would say the chicken wasn't really hot and tasted more like Thai chili sauce that is sweet. I ended up putting hot sauce from my husbands tacos on the chicken. There is street parking out front but no seating inside. There are a few benches across the street in the small triangle park. The Waimea landing beach park is down the road and another place you could eat. We were told that was the only bathroom in the area. I don't suggest Lucy weight park due to some of the homeless people in the area.
AHHHHMAZING!!! My husband went for the cheeseburger... I highly recommend the Katsu Mahi Fish sandwich. This is a spot where the locals eat and it was busy like a beehive with hungry people coming in and out. Makes me wish I didn't live 2600 miles away!!!
Mmmm mahi katsu!! As a pescatarian I appreciated they had mahi mahi since most places do chicken ones. Perfectly lightly breaded and crispy w the right amount of sauce, rice and Mac salad. Super fresh and delicious. Perfect place to stop on the W shore / after hiking Waipo'o. Nice service too. Mahalo!
